March 29, 2024How to Camp Responsibly in Sensitive Environments?
April 12, 2024If you’re like most RVers, you love to stay at your favorite RV resorts and campgrounds because of all the great activities they have on site.
From miniature golf to paintball, from swimming pools to fishing ponds, no matter what your interests are, you’re likely to find them represented among the activities at your favorite RV resort or campground. Here are 9 of our favorite activities when we stay at our favorite RV resorts and campgrounds around the country!
1) Hiking
It’s a great way to get out and explore the outdoors, and it doesn’t require any special gear or preparations. Hiking is a perfect activity for the whole family. It’s also possible that you’ll come across some of our state’s famous wildlife like deer, bears, or even an elusive mountain lion. When hiking, make sure you’re prepared with plenty of water and your favorite snack in case you get hungry or tired on the trail. Remember to stop every hour or so for a little break!
2) Biking
Biking is a great way to explore your favorite campground and take in the scenery. However, it can be difficult for people who don’t have a bike. Luckily, most RV resorts and campgrounds offer bike rentals that you can use for the day or week. You can also always go on an eco-tour around the property!
3) Fishing
Fishing is a popular activity for campers and resort guests alike. There are many options for fishing, including shoreline fishing, boat fishing, and kayak fishing. Shoreline fishing is the easiest way for newbies to get started. All you need is a pole or rod, some bait (think night crawlers), and lots of patience! Boat fishing can be done in designated areas or out on the ocean. Kayaks are great because they allow you to fish while staying above water level (in case you fall in).
4) Boating
Boating is one of the most popular activities among campers and RVers, and for good reason: it’s relaxing, fun, relatively inexpensive, and it provides a great way to enjoy nature. You can rent a boat or bring your own. But before you get started boating, there are some things you should know. Boat rentals typically cover fuel costs only so you’ll need to account for the cost of renting a boat if you don’t have your own.
If you’re not sure how to operate the boat, ask about on-site instruction before setting out on the water. And remember that boats and waterways can be unpredictable environments where one wrong move can lead to tragedy; be sure that everyone in your party knows what they’re doing before hitting the water!
5) Swimming
Swimming is a favorite activity for many people. There are several benefits of swimming in an RV resort or campground pool. For one, the water temperature is regulated and kept between 82-86 degrees Fahrenheit all year round. Plus, there’s always a lifeguard on duty! To ensure that you don’t experience any cramps while swimming, the pools are chlorinated, filtered and disinfected regularly.
If you want to relax while swimming, the pools offer shaded areas with comfortable lounge chairs where you can read a book or take a nap during the hottest hours of the day. To help protect your skin from sun damage, there are sections of each pool reserved for swimmers who use sunscreen and cover themselves with water-resistant clothing before entering the water.
6) Mini Golf
Mini golf is a fun game that can be played by everyone, regardless of skill level. Not only is it a great way to get exercise and fresh air, but it’s also a great opportunity for family bonding. The best part? Mini golf can be found at many different RV resort and campgrounds across the country.
7) Volleyball
Playing volleyball is a perfect way to break up the day, get some exercise and make new friends. Here are some tips for how to get started:
-Find an open space with enough room for people playing on either side of the net.
-Use a ball that is light enough so it doesn’t go high into the air but not too light so it’s easy to hit over the net.
-Set up two teams and decide who starts serving first by flipping a coin or having one team run around a circle before they start serving. The server should serve from behind their own baseline.
-The receiver tries to touch the ball as many times as possible without letting it bounce twice on their side of the court. When he/she does this, he/she yells hit!
-After about five minutes switch sides and repeat for 30 minutes total play time per game.
8) Horseshoes
Horseshoes is one of the most popular activities in any campground or RV resort. Horseshoes is a fun, competitive game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and you don’t need to know how to play in order to have fun. This game can be played with two people or more, and the object of the game is for each team or player to toss horseshoes onto stakes in a marked out area called the pit.
The team who gets their horseshoes closest without going over (or closer than) wins the points. It’s important that your throwing arm stays straight while tossing, so make sure your elbow doesn’t bend!
9) Bonfires
One of the most popular activities at an RV resort is a bonfire. They’re a great way to meet new people and make friends, but they can also be fun for just hanging out with close friends or family members. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to roast marshmallows! You can also have a bonfire party with drinks and snacks. The next time you go camping or visit your favorite RV resort, be sure to bring some hot dogs and marshmallows for roasting!
